How Do I Make A New Xbox Live Account On The Original Xbox? Also Will A 1 Month Xbox 360 Gold Trial Card Work?

I’m on the account creation screen right now but every time i type in that code it says “Unable to continue due to technical difficulties.” I also checked the xbox website, but it said that xbox live is running. Can someone help and tell me if the code doesn’t work or if the connection is messed up. Thanks.
